Zeffix syrup (lamivudine) is indicated for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults and children.

It is used in patients with compensated liver disease (when the liver is damaged but works normally) who also show signs that the virus is still multiplying and have signs of liver damage, such as raised levels of the liver enzyme alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and signs of damage when liver tissue is examined under a microscope.

Zeffix belongs to a group of medicines called antivirals. It works by blocking the action of an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which is involved in the replication of the hepatitis B virus.

By inhibiting viral replication, Zeffix helps to reduce the amount of hepatitis B virus in the body, leading to a reduction in liver damage and an improvement in liver function.

Do’s
