Tavist (Clemastine Fumarate)

Do’s

• The dosage of Tavist is based on your age, medical condition, and response to therapy.
• Tavist can be taken with or without food. If you are using the liquid form of this medication, carefully measure the dose using a special measuring device/spoon.
• This medication may be taken with food or milk if stomach upset occurs.
• Tavist is usually taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up. If your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, or if you have a fever with a headache or skin rash, consult your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Do not increase the dose or take this medication more often than your healthcare provider recommends or the package instructions without your healthcare provider's approval.
• Do not use a household spoon when measuring the liquid form because you may not get the correct dose.
• Do not take Tavist for longer than 7 days in a row.

Common Side effects:

• Sedation
• Sleepiness
• Dizziness
• Disturbed coordination
• Epigastric distress
• Thickening of bronchial secretions
• Central nervous system depression, resulting in drowsiness, dizziness, and headache
• Blurred vision 

Serious Side Effects:

• Easy bruising/bleeding
• Fast/irregular heartbeat
• Seizures
• A very serious allergic reaction, which is rare but requires immediate medical attention

In case of overdose, symptoms may include large pupils, flushing, fever, hallucinations, weakness, shaking (tremor), muscle twitching, and loss of consciousness. Emergency medical attention should be sought in such cases.

Tavist may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities while taking this medication. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness, avoid such activities.

Tavist should be stored at room temperature away from light and moisture. It should not be stored in the bathroom, and the liquid forms should not be frozen. Properly dispose of the medication when expired or is no longer needed. 

Before using Tavist, ask a healthcare provider about potential interactions with other drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Some medicines can cause unwanted or dangerous effects when used together with Tavist. Check for interactions and seek guidance from a healthcare provider.

If you are allergic to Tavist or any of its components, do not use this medication. Additionally, if you experience any signs of a serious allergic reaction while taking Tavist, immediate medical attention should be sought.
