Clarinex (Desloratadine)

Do’s

• Take Clarinex with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider (usually once daily).
• Dissolve rapidly dissolving tablets on your tongue before swallowing.
• Measure liquid Clarinex with the provided measuring device, not a household spoon.
• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding dosage and frequency.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens.

Don'ts

• Don't take Clarinex more often than prescribed.
• Don't increase your Clarinex dosage without consulting your healthcare provider.
• Don't use a household spoon to measure liquid Clarinex.
• Don't neglect to tell your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve.

Common side effects of Clarinex (desloratadine) may include:

• Dry mouth
• Sore throat
• Muscle pain
• Drowsiness
• Tiredness
• Menstrual pain

Serious side effects of Clarinex are rare

• Signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, fast heartbeat, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Seizures
• Jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)
• Extreme sleepiness
• Hallucinations (seeing things that aren't real)

Disclose any allergies to desloratadine, loratadine, or other Clarinex ingredients before use.

Inform your healthcare provider about kidney or liver disease before using Clarinex.

Clarinex is unlikely to cause drowsiness at recommended doses. However, use caution driving or doing activities requiring alertness until you know how it affects you.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications (prescription, non-prescription, and herbal) before surgery.

Clarinex liquid or dissolving tablets may contain sugar or aspartame. Consult your healthcare provider before using Clarinex if you have diabetes, PKU, or need to limit these ingredients in your diet.

Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider before using Clarinex if pregnant. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding as Clarinex passes into breast milk.

Inform your healthcare provider if your allergy symptoms worsen or fail to improve after using Clarinex.
