Suprax Suspension (Cefixime)

Do’s

The dosage of Suprax suspension is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. In children, the dose is also based on weight.

Suprax suspension is usually taken once a day by mouth. In children, it may be taken twice a day, every 12 hours.

Take Suprax suspension with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider. Before each dose, shake the bottle well.

To achieve the best effect, take Suprax suspension at evenly spaced times.Take it at the same time(s) every day to help you remember.

Continue to use Suprax suspension until you have finished the full prescribed amount, even if your symptoms improve after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.

Common Side Effects: 

Diarrhea

Nausea

Stomach pain

Headache

Vaginal itching or discharge.

Serious Side Effects: 

Severe stomach or abdominal pain

Persistent nausea or vomiting

Yellowing of the eyes or skin

Dark urine

Easy bruising or bleeding

Signs of kidney problems (such as change in the amount of urine)

Signs of a new infection (such as fever, persistent sore throat)

Allergic Reactions: 

In rare cases, Suprax suspension may cause allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek immediate medical attention.

If you have a known allergy to cefixime or any other cephalosporin antibiotics, you should not take Suprax suspension.

Suprax suspension contains sucrose, which may affect blood sugar levels. If you have diabetes, talk to your healthcare provider before using Suprax suspension.

Discuss the potential risks and benefits of taking Suprax suspension during pregnancy or while breastfeeding with your healthcare provider.

Store Suprax suspension at room temperature or in the refrigerator, as directed. Keep the container tightly closed and discard any unused portion after the recommended time period.
