Striverdi Respimat is indicated for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) that helps to keep the airways open and improve breathing in patients with COPD.

Do’s

  • Before you start using Striverdi Respimat and each time you get a refill, read the patient information leaflet provided by your pharmacist. It contains important instructions for the proper use of the medication.
  • Follow the illustrated directions for the proper use of Striverdi Respimat as provided in the patient information leaflet. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.
  • If you are using the inhaler for the first time or if you have not used it for a long time (such as more than 3 days or 21 days), follow the instructions for priming the inhaler. When priming the inhaler, make sure to spray toward the ground (away from the face) to avoid getting the medication into your eyes.
  • Inhale Striverdi Respimat by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily. Wait at least 1 minute between each inhalation.
  • If you are using other inhalers at the same time, wait at least 1 minute between the use of each medication.
  • Use Striverdi Respimat regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day.
  • If you have been using a quick-relief inhaler (such as albuterol or salbutamol) on a regular daily schedule, your healthcare provider may direct you to stop this schedule and only use the quick-relief inhaler as needed for sudden shortness of breath.
  • Learn which inhalers you should use every day and which ones you should use if your breathing suddenly worsens. Ask your healthcare provider ahead of time what you should do if you experience new or worsening cough or shortness of breath, wheezing, increased sputum, or if your quick-relief inhaler does not seem to be working well.
  •  If your symptoms do not improve or worsen, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

  • Do not use more of this medication or use it more often than prescribed by your healthcare provider, as it may cause serious side effects.
  • Do not use more than 2 inhalations of per day.
  • Do not stop taking this medication without consulting your healthcare provider.

Common side effects:

  • Cough
  • Throat irritation
  • Headache
  • Back pain
  • Joint pain
  • Nasopharyngitis (inflammation of the nose and throat)
  • Upper respiratory tract infection

Serious side effects:

  • Allergic reactions: Seek immediate medical attention if you experience symptoms such as rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
  • Worsening of COPD symptoms: If your COPD symptoms worsen or if you experience increased shortness of breath, wheezing, or increased sputum production, contact your healthcare provider.
  • Cardiovascular effects: Striverdi Respimat may cause an increase in heart rate, blood pressure, or chest pain. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek medical attention.

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. If you experience any unusual or persistent side effects while using Striverdi Respimat, consult your healthcare provider.

Do not use Striverdi Respimat if you are allergic to olodaterol.

Striverdi Respimat should not be used to treat asthma. Using a long-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (LABA) like Striverdi Respimat without an inhaled corticosteroid in asthma may increase the risk of hospitalization or death.

Striverdi Respimat is not a rescue medicine for bronchospasm attacks. It should not be used to treat acute deteriorations of COPD or as a substitute for fast-acting inhalation medicine during breathing emergencies. If your breathing problems worsen quickly or your medications do not seem to be working well, seek medical attention.

Discuss the use of Striverdi Respimat with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. The safety and efficacy of Striverdi Respimat in pregnant or breastfeeding individuals have not been established.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products. Certain medications may interact with Striverdi Respimat, potentially affecting its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects.

This is not an exhaustive list of warnings and precautions. Always consult your healthcare provider for comprehensive information and guidance regarding the use of Striverdi Respimat.
