Drug Description : Pepcid AC is a medication that decreases the amount of acid in produced by the stomach. This helps prevent and treat ulcers in the stomach and the intestines. Additionally, Pepcid AC prevents and relieves symptoms of heartburn and indigestion that are caused by drinking certain foods and beverages.Keep Pepcid AC tablets at room temperature and protect from moisture, heat and light. Pepcid AC is a prescription medication that should be taken in the exact fashion that is outlined in your prescription. If your prescription is unclear, contact your healthcare provider for more information. For treatment of heartburn, you can take one tablet before during or after the start of heartburn. Do not take more than two tablets in twenty-four hours. When used for the treatment of stomach ulcers, most ulcers will heal within 4 weeks of using Pepcid AC; however, it may take up to 8 weeks of using Pepcid AC before the ulcer heals. If your symptoms have not improved after 6 weeks of treatment, talk with your doctor.Pepcid AC should not be taken if you are allergic to its ingredients or any similar medications, such as ranitidine, cimetidine, or nizatidine.Before taking Pepcid AC tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, stomach cancer or other problems, or asthma, COPD, or other breathing problems.
