This product may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Ask a healthcare provider if it is safe for you to take this medicine if you have other medical conditions, especially kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, high blood pressure, or if you are on a low salt diet. Avoid taking sodium bicarbonate without a healthcare provider’s advice if you regularly take other medicines. Inform each of your healthcare providers about all medicines you use, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Dose selection for an elderly patient should be cautious, usually starting at the low end of the dosing range, reflecting the greater frequency of decreased hepatic, renal, or cardiac function and concomitant disease or other drug therapy. When handling sodium bicarbonate, take safety precautions to avoid respiratory, skin, and eye irritation.
