Pataday (Olopatadine)

Do’s

• Follow the dosage of Pataday as directed by your healthcare provider or as indicated on the product package. The usual dosage is once or twice a day.
• Adhere to the prescribed dosage for optimal effectiveness.
• Wash your hands before handling the eye drops to avoid contamination.
• Remove contact lenses before applying the eye drops. Wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting your contact lenses.
• Tilt your head back, look upward, and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch.
• Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch.
• Look downward, gently close your eyes, and place one finger at the corner of your eye near the nose. Apply gentle pressure for 1 to 2 minutes before opening your eyes to prevent the medication from draining out.
• Repeat the steps for the other eye if directed to use the medication in both eyes.
• Replace the dropper cap after each use.
• Wait at least 5 minutes before applying other eye medications if using multiple eye treatments. Use eye drops before eye ointments.
• Use Pataday regularly at the same time(s) each day to get the most benefit from it.
• Seek medical help immediately if your condition persists or worsens, or if you suspect a serious medical problem.

Don’ts

• Do not blink or rub your eyes after applying Pataday.
• Do not rinse the dropper after use.

Serious Side Effects: 

• Allergic reactions: swelling of the mouth and throat, shortness of breath, hives, severe itching, and rash.

Stop using Pataday and call your healthcare provider immediately if you experience serious side effects.

Less Common Side Effects:

• Blurred vision
• Burning, dryness, stinging of the eye
• Eye redness, irritation, or pain
• Swelling of the eyelid, face, lips, or feet
• Trouble breathing
• Dermatitis, erythema 
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Fatigue or tiredness
• Nasal dryness
• Increased heart rate
• Dry mouth
• Change in sense of taste
• Nausea
• Red or itchy skin 

If you notice any side effects other than discomfort, inform your healthcare provider.

Do not use Pataday if you are allergic to it or if you are allergic to olopatadine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients. Additionally, Pataday should not be used in children under the age of 16 years.

Consult a healthcare provider before taking any drug, changing any diet, or commencing or discontinuing any course of treatment, as Pataday may interact with other drugs.

Your vision may be blurred for a time just after using Pataday, so it is advised not to drive or use machinery until your vision is clear.
