Kazano is a medication used in combination with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.

It helps prevent complications such as kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke

Kazano contains two medications: alogliptin and metformin. Alogliptin works by increasing the levels of natural substances called incretins, which help control blood sugar by increasing insulin release, especially after a meal. It also decreases the amount of sugar produced by the liver.

Metformin helps restore the body's proper response to the insulin it naturally produces. It reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver and absorbed by the stomach and intestines

Kazano may cause blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness. Avoid activities requiring alertness like driving until you are sure you can perform them safely.

Tell your healthcare provider about all medications you take before having surgery or any X-ray/scanning procedure using iodinated contrast. You may need to stop taking Kazano for a short time.

Rarely, too much metformin in Kazano can build up in the body and cause lactic acidosis, a serious condition.
