Spiriva Respimat is indicated for the following purposes:

It is a bronchodilator used to prevent bronchospasm (narrowing of the airways in the lungs) in adults with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), including bronchitis and emphysema.
- It is also used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children who are at least 6 years old.
- Additionally, Spiriva Respimat is indicated for the long-term maintenance treatment of bronchospasm and dyspnoea associated with COPD, as well as for the prevention of COPD exacerbations.
It is also indicated as an add-on maintenance bronchodilator treatment in patients aged 6 years and older with moderate to severe asthma.

The usual dosage of Spiriva Respimat is 2 sprays once daily.
When using the inhaler for the first time or after not using it for more than 3 days or 21 days, follow the instructions for test sprays in the air. This helps ensure the inhaler is working properly.
Inhale the medication by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider. Put your lips tightly around the mouthpiece and rinse your mouth after using the inhaler to prevent dry mouth and throat irritation
If using other inhalers at the same time, wait at least 1 minute between the use of each medication.
Use this medication regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.
The mouthpiece of the inhaler should be cleaned at least once a week as directed.
For patients using Spiriva Respimat to treat asthma, it may take 4 to 8 weeks before experiencing the full benefit of the drug
Learn which inhalers to use every day and which to use if breathing suddenly worsens. Consult your healthcare provider if you experience new or worsening symptoms.

Do not inhale more than 2 sprays in 24 hours.
Avoid getting the medication into your eyes.

Spiriva Respimat is not a rescue inhaler and should not be used to relieve sudden breathing problems caused by asthma or COPD.
