Drug Description : Alvesco is used to prevent asthma attacks in adults and children over 12 years of age. When used on a regular basis as prescribed by a doctor, Alvesco will help prevent and control asthma symptoms. Alvesco is a corticosteroid that prevents the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. Store Alvesco at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light. Keep the medicine away from open flame of high heat as the canister will explode if it becomes too hot. Do not use the Alvesco inhaler to treat an asthma attack that has already begun. Use Alvesco exactly as it was prescribed to you. Alvesco comes with instructions for proper use, and directions for priming the inhaler. Follow these instructions carefully. Avoid people who are sick or have infections. Call your doctor for preventative treatment if you are exposed to chicken pox or measles. These conditions have proven to be fatal to people using steroid medications. If you use a steroid medication already, do not stop using the steroid suddenly or you may have withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your doctor about easing off steroidal medications. Long term use of Alvesco can slow a child’s growth. Tell your doctor if your child using this medication is not growing or gaining weight properly. Seek emergency medical attention if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
