Xiidra Ophthalmic Solution (Lifitegrast)

Do’s

• Use Xiidra exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically twice daily (every 12 hours) in the affected eye(s).
• Wash your hands thoroughly before applying the drops.
• Hold the single-use container upright and gently tap it to ensure the solution moves to the tip.
• Tilt your head back, look up, and pull down your lower eyelid to create a pouch.
• Place one drop into the pouch, without touching the tip of the container to your eye or any other surface.
• Gently close your eyes and press your finger at the inner corner for 1-2 minutes to prevent drainage.
• Repeat for your other eye if needed.
• Use Xiidra consistently at the same times each day.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve or worsens after using Xiidra.

Don'ts

• Don't open the single-use container until you're ready to use it. Discard the remaining solution after each use.
• Don't wear contact lenses while applying Xiidra. Wait at least 15 minutes after using the drops before inserting lenses.
• Don't touch the tip of the container to your eye or any other surface to avoid contamination.
• Don't rub your eye after applying the drops.
• Don't drive or operate machinery until your vision clears after using Xiidra.

Common Side Effects:

• Eye discomfort
• Temporary blurred vision
• Unusual taste sensation
• sensation after using Xiidra.
• Headache
• Eye irritation
• Itchy eyes
• Dysgeusia (metallic taste in mouth)
• Redness of the eyes
• Sinusitis (sinus infection)
• Watery eyes

Serious Side Effects:

• Changes in vision
• Eye irritation or discomfort
• Blurred vision
• Redness of the white part of the eyes or inside of the eyelids
• Sudden vision loss
• Tunnel vision
• Eye pain or swelling
• Seeing halos around lights
• Allergic reaction: This can include symptoms such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, and trouble breathing.

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Xiidra ophthalmic solution,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to lifitegrast or any ingredients in Xiidra.

Tell your healthcare provider about any pre-existing medical conditions before using Xiidra. Although the insert doesn't specify what conditions, it's always best to consult your healthcare provider.

Xiidra may cause temporary blurred vision after application. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring clear vision until your vision clears.

Tell your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including Xiidra, before having surgery.

Xiidra should only be used during pregnancy when clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

It is unknown if Xiidra passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.

Store Xiidra at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Keep the medication in the original foil pouch until ready to use. Dispose of according to instructions.
