Sanctura XR (Trospium Chloride)

Do’s

• The dosage of Sanctura XR is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
• Take Sanctura XR by mouth on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before a meal, as directed by your healthcare provider. Swallow the capsule whole, without crushing or chewing it.
• If you have difficulty swallowing the capsule, you may open it and place the beads in a small amount of water or directly onto the tongue. Swallow all of the beads right away.
• Use Sanctura XR regularly to get the most benefit from it. Take it at the same time each day to help you remember.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition does not improve or if it worsens while taking Sanctura XR.

Don’ts

• Avoid drinking alcohol or taking any product containing alcohol for 2 hours before and after taking Sanctura XR. Alcohol can interfere with the long action of the drug and may increase side effects.
• Do not crush or chew the beads, as this may cause the drug to be released too quickly, increasing side effects. 

• Dry mouth
• Constipation
• Blurred vision
• Impaired thinking or reactions
• Difficulty emptying the bladder
• Decreased sweating

Seek emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Sanctura XR may interact with other medications. Consult with your healthcare provider to ensure the safe use of Sanctura XR with other drugs you may be taking.

The use of Sanctura XR during pregnancy and breastfeeding should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

Sanctura XR should be used with caution in patients with severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/min). Dosage modification may be necessary in these cases.

Patients with clinically significant bladder outflow obstruction should use Sanctura XR with caution due to the risk of urinary retention.
