Patanase Nasal Spray (Olopatadine)

Do’s

• Before using Patanase Nasal Spray, read the patient information leaflet provided by your pharmacist. This leaflet contains important instructions and safety information regarding the medication.
• Before using the bottle for the first time or if you have not used the medication for more than 7 days, it is necessary to prime the spray pump. Follow the instructions for priming carefully to ensure proper functioning of the spray.
• Use Patanase Nasal Spray in your nose as directed by your healthcare provider. The usual recommended dosage is twice a day in both nostrils. However, follow the specific instructions given to you by your healthcare provider.
• To get the maximum benefit from Patanase Nasal Spray, use it regularly. Use it at the same times each day to help you remember. 
• Keep track of the number of sprays you use, including test sprays used to prime the bottle. This will help you determine when it is time to discard the bottle. Even if the bottle is not completely empty, follow the labeled number of sprays mentioned on the product package and discard the bottle accordingly. This ensures that you are getting the correct amount of the drug in each spray.
• If your symptoms do not improve or if you have any questions or concerns about the medication, consult your healthcare provider. 

Don’ts

• Do not spray directly into your eyes or onto the nasal septum (the wall between the two nostrils).

Common Side Effects:

• Headache
• Nosebleeds
• Unpleasant taste or smell
• Nasal discomfort or irritation
• Sneezing
• Cough
• Sore throat

Less Common Side Effects:

• Dry mouth
• Fatigue
• Drowsiness
• Dizziness

Serious Side Effects:

• Severe nasal irritation or bleeding
• Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, or swelling

The listed serious side effects are rare, but if you experience any of the following, seek medical attention immediately.

Inform your healthcare provider if you have any non-allergic conditions affecting the inside of your nose, such as a deviated septum. This information is important for proper evaluation and treatment.

Patanase Nasal Spray may interact with other medications. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products. 

Patanase Nasal Spray may cause somnolence (drowsiness) in some patients. Exercise caution when engaging in hazardous activities that require complete mental alertness and motor coordination, such as driving or operating machinery.
