Oralair is indicated for the treatment of grass pollen-induced allergic rhinitis with or without conjunctivitis. It is an allergen extract used as immunotherapy for individuals who have confirmed allergies to certain grass pollens.

Specifically, Oralair is used to help the body develop immunity to certain pollens that can cause allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, and watery eyes. It is approved for use in persons 5 through 65 years of age.

Do’s

  • Before starting Oralair and each time you get a refill, read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.
  • Take Oralair by mouth without food, as directed by your healthcare provider. It is usually taken once daily. Your healthcare provider may start you on a low dose and gradually increase it to reduce the risk of side effects.
  • With dry hands, remove one tablet from the package just before taking it. Place the tablet under your tongue and allow it to dissolve for at least 1 minute before swallowing.
  • Wash your hands after handling the tablet.
  • If needed, an adult should help a child take Oralair properly. The child must be watched for at least 30 minutes after each dose to ensure there is no allergic reaction to the medication.
  • Your healthcare provider will likely direct you to start taking Oralair about 4 months before the expected start of allergy season and continue taking it throughout the season. Take this medication regularly at the same time each day to get the most benefit from it.
  • If you miss a dose, contact your healthcare provider for advice. If you miss more than 7 days in a row, contact your healthcare provider before restarting the medication.
  • Store Oralair at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children. Keep the medication in its original package until you are ready to use a dose.
