Dymista is indicated for the relief of symptoms of moderate to severe seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis if monotherapy with either intranasal antihistamine or glucocorticoid is not considered sufficient.

Dymista contains two drugs, azelastine and fluticasone. Azelastine is an antihistamine that works by blocking certain natural substances called histamines that are responsible for allergic symptoms. Fluticasone belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids and works by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the nasal passages.

Do’s

  • Before using Dymista, read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist and follow the illustrated directions for the proper use of this medication. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.
  • Before using Dymista, gently blow your nose and shake the container gently. Follow the instructions for test sprays in the air if you are using the container for the first time or if you have not used it for a while.
  • Use Dymista in the nose as directed by your healthcare provider, usually twice a day in both nostrils.
  • Use Dymista regularly at the same times each day to get the most benefit from it.
  • Clean the applicator regularly, keep track of the number of sprays used from the container, and discard the container after you have used the specified number of sprays.
  • You may feel the product start to work as soon as 30 minutes after the first dose, but it may take several days before you get its full benefit. If you do not experience improvement or if your condition worsens, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

  • Avoid spraying Dymista in your eyes or mouth, and if it gets in your eyes, flush them thoroughly with water.
  • Do not increase your dose or use this drug more often or for longer than prescribed, as it may not improve your condition any faster and could increase the risk of side effects.

Prolonged use of Dymista may affect adrenal gland hormones, and individuals should be vigilant for signs of low adrenal gland hormones and seek medical advice if such symptoms arise.

Nasal corticosteroids, such as those in Dymista, are associated with potential local nasal effects, including epistaxis, nasal ulceration, nasal septal perforation, Candida albicans infection, and impaired wound healing.
