DuoTrav is a medication used to reduce the pressure inside the eye and is specifically indicated for adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who do not respond sufficiently to eye drops containing beta-blockers or prostaglandin analogues.

The active ingredients in DuoTrav are travoprost and timolol. Travoprost works by reducing the amount of fluid produced by the eye and by increasing the flow of fluid out of the eye. Timolol, a beta-blocker, also contributes to reducing the pressure inside the eye.

The combination of these two active ingredients in DuoTrav helps to address the underlying causes of increased eye pressure in individuals with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension who do not have a complete response to treatment with only one medication.

Do's

  • Follow your healthcare provider's instructions exactly. This includes how much to use, how often to use it, and for how long.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before using the eye drops.
  • Tilt your head back and gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a pocket.
  • Apply the prescribed number of drops into the pocket created by your lower eyelid.
  • Close your eye for a minute or two and gently press on the inner corner of your eye to help prevent the medication from draining into your tear duct.
  • Wipe away any excess medication from your eyelid with a clean tissue.
  • If you are using other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between using Duotrav and the other drops.

Don'ts

  • Don't touch the tip of the dropper to your eye or anything else. This can contaminate the medication.
  • Don't use Duotrav if the solution is discolored or cloudy.
  • Don't use Duotrav if you are allergic to any of its ingredients.
  • Don't share Duotrav with anyone else.
  • Don't use more Duotrav than your healthcare provider prescribes.
  • Don't stop using Duotrav without first talking to your healthcare provider.
