Demeclocycline is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, including those responsible for causing acne. This medication is classified as a tetracycline antibiotic and functions by halting the growth of bacteria.

This antibiotic is effective solely against bacterial infections and is not suitable for treating viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

The misuse of antibiotics when they are not necessary can lead to reduced effectiveness in future infections, emphasizing the importance of using antibiotics judiciously and as prescribed.

Do’s

  • Take Declomycin exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, including dosage and frequency (usually 2-4 times a day).
  • Take it on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, to maximize absorption.
  • Take it with a full glass of water (8 ounces).
  • Sit upright or stand for at least 10 minutes after taking Declomycin.
  • If you experience stomach upset, consult your healthcare provider about taking it with food.
  • Take Declomycin 2-3 hours apart from medications containing magnesium, aluminum, calcium, or dairy products, as they can interfere with absorption.
  • Take it at evenly spaced times throughout the day for consistent levels in your body.
  • Continue taking Declomycin for the entire prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve, to prevent infection recurrence.
