Vantin Dispersible is a medication used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It belongs to a class of antibiotics called cephalosporins. Vantin Dispersible works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria in the body.

Vantin Dispersible is effective only against bacterial infections and will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu. Using antibiotics when they are not necessary can contribute to antibiotic resistance, making them less effective in the future. Therefore,  use Vantin Dispersible only as prescribed by your healthcare provider for bacterial infections.

Do’s

  • Follow healthcare provider's instructions: Take Cefpodoxime Proxetil exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, considering dosage, frequency, and duration. This is typically every 12 hours.
  • Take the tablet with food: If you're using the tablet form, take it with food to improve medication absorption.
  • Take with or without food (suspension): If you're using the suspension form, it can be taken with or without food. Shake the bottle well before each dose.
  • Maintain consistent timing: Take Cefpodoxime Proxetil at around the same time(s) each day for consistent medication levels in your body.
  • Finish the prescribed amount: Continue taking Cefpodoxime Proxetil for the entire prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve, to prevent the infection from returning.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if symptoms worsen: Tell your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve or worsens after taking Cefpodoxime Proxetil.

Don'ts

  • Don't take with stomach acid reducers (without consulting healthcare provider): Medications that reduce stomach acid (proton pump inhibitors, H2 blockers, antacids) can interfere with Cefpodoxime Proxetil absorption. Consult your healthcare provider on how to safely combine these medications. If you take antacids, take them at least 2 hours before or after Cefpodoxime Proxetil.
  • Don't skip doses: Try your best to take Cefpodoxime Proxetil as directed by your healthcare provider, avoiding missed doses.
