Angeliq is indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms due to menopause in women with a uterus. It is also used for the treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of vulvar and vaginal atrophy due to menopause in women with a uterus.

Angeliq should not be used by individuals with certain medical conditions, such as undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, coronary artery disease, a bleeding disorder, kidney disease, liver disease, an adrenal gland disorder, if you will have major surgery, if you have had a hysterectomy, or if you have ever had a heart attack, a stroke, a blood clot, or cancer of the breast, uterus/cervix, or vagina.

If you will be having surgery or will be confined to a chair or bed for a long time (such as on a long plane flight), special precautions may need to be taken while taking Angeliq due to the increased risk of blood clots.

Angeliq is contraindicated in patients with renal impairment due to the risk of hyperkalemia. It is also contraindicated in patients with hepatic impairment because of the risk of increased drospirenone exposure and subsequent hyperkalemia.

Angeliq is not indicated for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while taking Angeliq, discontinue its use and consult your healthcare provider.
