Do’s

• Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start using Angeliq and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.
• Angeliq should be taken orally as directed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily. 
• Take this medication consistently to derive the maximum benefit from it. To help you remember, try to take it at the same time each day.
• If you feel that your condition is not improving or if it worsens, communicate this to your healthcare provider. 

• Nausea
• Light vaginal bleeding or spotting
• Gastrointestinal and abdominal pain
• Breast pain
• Headache
• Weight gain
• Weight loss
• Generalized edema
• Chest pain
• Malaise
• Chills
• Taste disturbance

Angeliq should not be used by individuals with certain medical conditions, such as undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, coronary artery disease, a bleeding disorder, kidney disease, liver disease, an adrenal gland disorder, if you will have major surgery, if you have had a hysterectomy, or if you have ever had a heart attack, a stroke, a blood clot, or cancer of the breast, uterus/cervix, or vagina.

If you will be having surgery or will be confined to a chair or bed for a long time (such as on a long plane flight), special precautions may need to be taken while taking Angeliq due to the increased risk of blood clots.

Angeliq is contraindicated in patients with renal impairment due to the risk of hyperkalemia. It is also contraindicated in patients with hepatic impairment because of the risk of increased drospirenone exposure and subsequent hyperkalemia.

Always inform your healthcare provider about any other medications or supplements you are currently taking, as they may interact with Angeliq.

Angeliq is not indicated for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you become pregnant while taking Angeliq, discontinue its use and consult your healthcare provider.
