Amoxil Suspension (Amoxicillin)

Do’s

• Shake the Amoxil bottle well before every dose.
• Use the provided measuring spoon or device to ensure accurate dosing. Never use a household spoon.
• Take Amoxicillin Suspension with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider, typically every 8 or 12 hours.
• You can mix the measured dose with formula, milk, juice, water, or ginger ale just before consumption.
• Drink the entire mixture immediately after preparation. Do not pre-mix for future use.
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking Amoxicillin Suspension unless your healthcare provider instructs otherwise.
• Take Amoxicillin Suspension at consistent times throughout the day for best results. Set reminders or alarms to help you remember.
• Continue taking Amoxicillin Suspension for the entire prescribed duration, even if your symptoms improve. Early discontinuation can lead to the infection returning.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or persists despite taking Amoxicillin Suspension.

Don'ts

• Don't skip doses or take more Amoxicillin Suspension than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't use Amoxicillin Suspension to treat viral infections, as it is only effective against bacterial infections.
• Don't stop taking Amoxicillin Suspension early because you feel better. Complete the full course of treatment as instructed by your healthcare provider.

Common side effects of Amoxil suspension may include:

• Diarrhea
• Stomach upset
• Nausea
• Headache
• Abnormal taste sense
• Skin rash
• Vaginal yeast infection

Serious side effects of Amoxil suspension are rare but may include:

• Allergic reactions, such as itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
• Breathing problems
• Blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin, including inside the mouth
• Dizziness
• Trouble sleeping
• Seizures
• Trouble passing urine, dark urine, or a decrease in the quantity of urine
• Unusually weak or tired feeling

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking  Amoxil suspension,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Let your healthcare provider know if you have allergies to Amoxicillin, penicillin, cephalosporin antibiotics, or any other ingredients listed in the medication.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing conditions, especially kidney disease or infectious mononucleosis.

Be aware if you have diabetes or any condition requiring you to limit sugar intake. Amoxicillin suspension may contain sugar. Consult your healthcare provider for safe use.

Amoxicillin can interfere with live bacterial vaccines and some medications. Tell your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including prescriptions, non-prescription, and herbal products, before using Amoxicillin.

Disclose your Amoxicillin use to your healthcare provider before any surgery.

Amoxicillin should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. It passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
