Amoxil Suspension (amoxicillin) is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections. It is a penicillin-type antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This medication treats only bacterial infections and will not work for viral infections such as the common cold or flu.

Amoxicillin is important to use antibiotics only when necessary, as the misuse or overuse of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance.

In addition to treating bacterial infections, Amoxil Suspension is also used in combination with other medications to treat stomach and intestinal ulcers caused by the bacteria H. pylori and to prevent the ulcers from recurring.

Do’s

  • Shake the Amoxil bottle well before every dose.
  • Use the provided measuring spoon or device to ensure accurate dosing. Never use a household spoon.
  • Take Amoxicillin Suspension with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider, typically every 8 or 12 hours.
  • You can mix the measured dose with formula, milk, juice, water, or ginger ale just before consumption.
  • Drink the entire mixture immediately after preparation. Do not pre-mix for future use.
  • Drink plenty of fluids while taking Amoxicillin Suspension unless your healthcare provider instructs otherwise.
  • Take Amoxicillin Suspension at consistent times throughout the day for best results. Set reminders or alarms to help you remember.
  • Continue taking Amoxicillin Suspension for the entire prescribed duration, even if your symptoms improve. Early discontinuation can lead to the infection returning.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or persists despite taking Amoxicillin Suspension.

Don'ts

  • Don't skip doses or take more Amoxicillin Suspension than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
  • Don't use Amoxicillin Suspension to treat viral infections, as it is only effective against bacterial infections.
  • Don't stop taking Amoxicillin Suspension early because you feel better. Complete the full course of treatment as instructed by your healthcare provider.
