Buscopan Ampules (Hyoscine)

Do's

Tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions before using Buscopan ampules. This includes any allergies you have, and any medications you are currently taking, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements.

Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Tell your healthcare provider if you are breastfeeding.

Don'ts

Don't use Buscopan ampules if you are allergic to hyoscine butylbromide or any of the other ingredients in Buscopan ampules.

Don't use Buscopan ampules if you have glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, paralytic ileus, or pyloric stenosis.

Don't use Buscopan ampules if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Don't drive or operate machinery after using Buscopan ampules, as it can cause drowsiness and dizziness.

Don't drink alcohol while using Buscopan ampules, as it can increase the risk of side effects.

Common Side Effects:

Dry mouth

Constipation

Blurred vision

Fast heart rate

Serious Side Effects:

Painful red eye with loss of vision (could be caused by increased pressure in the eye)

Difficulty urinating

Serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) with symptoms such as sudden swelling of the lips, mouth, throat, or tongue

Talk to your healthcare provider before using Buscopan ampules if you have any of the following:

Heart problems: A history of heart disease, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmias), or high blood pressure. Buscopan can affect heart rhythm.

Prostate problems: Urinary retention or enlargement of the prostate. Buscopan may worsen these conditions.

Liver or kidney disease: May affect how your body processes Buscopan.

Thyroid problems: Overactive or underactive thyroid function.

Heatstroke: Buscopan can interfere with sweating, a crucial body function for regulating temperature.

Buscopan ampules are for injection only. A healthcare provider should administer them.

Buscopan can cause drowsiness, which can impair your ability to drive or operate machinery. Avoid these activities until you know how the medication affects you.

Limit alcohol consumption as it can worsen drowsiness.

Buscopan may increase sun sensitivity. Use sunscreen and protective clothing outdoors.

Discuss the risks and benefits of using Buscopan with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Keep the medication out of reach of children.
