Kaopectate Liquid Vanilla (Bismuth subsalicylate - non Rx)

Indication : Kaopectate is used as an anti-diarrhea medication and antacid (reduces stomach acid). This medication is used to treat nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, and diarrhea.

Storage : Store Kaopectate at room temperature in a cool, dry location. Do not freeze this medication.

Precaution : The use of Kaopectate may alter results of certain medical tests, thyroid scans, or stomach x-rays. Inform your doctor that you are taking Kaopectate if you undergo any medical tests in the duration of your use of this medication.

Warnings : Do not mix antacids and other diarrhea medications with Kaopectate before consulting a doctor.

Patient Family Information  : Take Kaopectate exactly as prescribed to you by your health care professional or follow the directions provided on the label. Shake well before each use. Use the provided cup as a measuring device. Do not use regular teaspoons or tablespoons as measurement as these are not accurate. When taking the tablet, chew thoroughly before swallowing. Take no more than 8 doses in a 24 hour period. You may have a dark or black tongue due to consuming this medication. This is harmless.

Contraindication : If you have any allergies to any ingredient of this medication do not use it.

Sever Side Effects : Severe: Ringing in your ears, hearing loss, long lasting diarrhea, worsening of symptoms.

Common Side Effects : Common: Constipation, dark stools, black tongue, darkened tongue.
