Pancrease MT 4 (Pancrealipase)

Do’s

• Before starting Pancrease MT 4 and each time you get a refill, make sure to read the Medication Guide provided. If you have any questions or concerns, consult your healthcare provider.
• Take Pancrease MT 4 by mouth with meals and snacks as directed by your healthcare provider. Swallow the capsule whole. 
• Drink plenty of fluids while taking Pancrease MT 4 unless otherwise instructed by your healthcare provider.
• If swallowing the capsule is difficult, you may open it and mix the contents in a small amount of liquid or soft food that does not need to be chewed (e.g., room-temperature applesauce).
• After swallowing the food or liquid, drink a glass of water or juice to ensure the medication is fully swallowed. 
• The dosage of Pancrease MT 4 is determined based on your medical condition, diet, weight, and response to treatment. Follow your healthcare provider's prescribed dosage.
• Take Pancrease MT 4 regularly with every meal or snack to get the most benefit from it.
• If your healthcare provider has recommended a special diet, follow it to maximize the benefits of Pancrease MT 4.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition lasts or gets worse.

Don’ts

• Do not crush or chew the capsules or keep them in your mouth, as it may irritate the mouth and affect the medication's effectiveness.
• Do not mix the contents of the capsule with alkaline food or liquid (such as milk, ice cream, or tea). Consult your healthcare provider for more information about which foods or liquids to avoid when mixing. 
• Do not save the medication mixture for later use.
• Do not take more capsules in a day than prescribed, as it will not improve your condition faster and may increase the risk of side effects.
• Do not change brands or dosage forms of pancrelipase without consulting your healthcare provider, as different products may contain different amounts of digestive enzymes.

In rare cases, individuals with a known history of allergy to pancrelipase products may develop mild allergic reactions, such as red, blotchy facial rash, and itching. These reactions typically resolve after discontinuation of the medication.

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or bothersome symptoms while taking Pancrease MT 4, seek medical attention.

Inform your healthcare provider about your medical history, especially if you have a history of sudden/severe swelling of the pancreas (acute pancreatitis), sudden worsening of long-term pancreatic disease, gout, kidney disease, high uric acid levels in the blood (hyperuricemia), or intestinal problems such as blockage.

If you have a known history of allergy to pancrelipase products or any of its components, inform your healthcare provider.

Pancrease MT 4 may interact with other medications you are taking. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products, that you are currently using.

The safety of Pancrease MT 4 during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Consult with your healthcare provider if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding before using this medication.

The use of Pancrease MT 4 in pediatric patients, geriatric patients, or individuals with compromised kidney or liver function may require special considerations. Follow the guidance of your healthcare provider in these situations.
