Itopride (Itopride Hydrochloride)

Do’s

• Take Itopride Hydrochloride exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, usually before meals and at bedtime.
• Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablets.
• Take Itopride for the full duration of treatment prescribed by your healthcare provider, even if you start to feel better.
• Inform your healthcare provider about all medications and herbal products you are taking, including prescriptions and over-the-counter drugs, as some can interact with Itopride.
• Tell your healthcare provider about your medical history, especially if you have liver or kidney problems, or a history of heart disease.

Don'ts

• Don't take more or less Itopride than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't take it for longer than recommended by your healthcare provider.
• Don't take it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Don't operate machinery or drive after taking this medication, as it may cause dizziness or drowsiness.
• Don't consume alcohol while taking Itopride, as it can worsen some side effects.
• Don't take it if you have a blockage in your stomach or intestines.

• Discuss any allergies you have with your healthcare provider, especially to itopride or any inactive ingredients in the tablets.
• Inform your healthcare provider about your medical history before using it, particularly if you have:
  • Blockage or perforation (tear) in your stomach or intestines
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Liver or kidney disease
  • Heart problems (certain arrhythmias)
  • Epilepsy or a history of seizures
  • Parkinson's disease
• Itopride may cause side effects like diarrhea, nausea, headache, dizziness, stomach pain, constipation, and decreased white blood cell count.
• It can cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring alertness until you feel safe.
• This drug should only be used during pregnancy if clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.
• It is unknown if itopride passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding while using itopride.
• It may not be effective for people with stomach ulcers or severe gastrointestinal diseases.
• Using higher doses or being elderly may increase the risk of side effects.
