Zelapar ODT (Selegiline)

Drug Description : Zelapar is used to treat Parkinson's disease. This medication is normally used with carbidopa and levodopa. Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed to you by your health care provider. There are foods you cannot eat while you are using this medication and for 14 days after you stop using this medication. You may eat fresh meat, vegetables (except broad bean pods), processed cheese, mozzarella, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, soy milk, yogurt, or baker's yeast. Take this medication without any liquids. Dissolve the whole tablet in your mouth. Do not eat or drink until 5 minutes after taking this medication. If you have allergies to selegiline do not use this medication. If you have used any medications in the past 14 days- including non-prescription medications-inform your doctor which medications you have used. There are numerous medications which cannot be taken within 14 days of taking Zelapar. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor to find out if you are a candidate for Zelapar.Do not mix this medication with others without first asking your doctor if it is safe. Do not eat foods with high levels of tyramine. Do not eat air dried meats, aged meats, sausage, salami, pickled herring, beer from tap, unpasteurized beer, aged cheese, over the counter medications containing tyramine, sauerkraut, soy beans, soy sause, tofu, miso soup, bean curd, or yeast extracts. Severe: Unexpected and extreme headache, perplexity, impaired vision, problems with speech or balance, nausea, vomiting, chest pain, seizure, and sudden numbness or weakness, lightheadedness, fainting, hallucinations, feeling restless, twitching muscle moCommon: dizziness, weakness, difficulty sleeping, runny or stuffy nose, back pain, constipation, mouth sores or ulcers, pain while swallowing Zelapar.Other: None.
