Prevacid Solu Tab (Lansoprazole)

Do’s

• Before starting Prevacid Solu Tab, read the Medication Guide and, if available, the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions, consult your healthcare provider.
• Prevacid Solu Tab should be taken by mouth before a meal, as directed by your healthcare provider. The usual frequency is once daily. The specific dosage and length of treatment will depend on your medical condition and response to treatment.
• When handling the tablet, make sure your hands are dry. Place the tablet on your tongue and let it disintegrate, which usually takes less than 1 minute. Swallow the remaining particles with or without water. 
• If you have trouble swallowing the tablet, you may dissolve it in water and take the mixture using an oral syringe. Place a tablet in an oral syringe and draw up the correct amount of water for your dose. Shake the syringe gently to break apart the tablet, then swallow the liquid within 15 minutes. To ensure you have taken the entire dose, refill the syringe with water, shake again, and swallow all of the liquid. 
• If you are giving Prevacid Solu Tab through a tube into the stomach (nasogastric tube), consult your healthcare provider for detailed instructions on how to properly mix and administer the medication.
• If needed, antacids may be taken along with Prevacid Solu Tab. However, if you are also taking sucralfate, take Prevacid Solu Tab at least 30 minutes before sucralfate.
• Use Prevacid Solu Tab regularly to get the most benefit from it. Take it at the same time each day to help remember. 
• Continue taking this medication for the prescribed length of treatment, even if you start feeling better.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition lasts or gets worse. The risk of side effects may increase over time. Consult your healthcare provider to determine how long you should take this medication.

Don’ts

• Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet or particles.
• Do not prepare the liquid mixture ahead of time for later use.
• Do not stop taking Prevacid Solu Tab without consulting your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Headache
• Diarrhea
• Stomach pain
• Nausea
• Constipation

Less Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness
• Rash
• Itching
• Swelling
• Difficulty breathing

Rare but Serious Side Effects:

• Severe stomach pain
• Persistent nausea or vomiting
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice)
• Dark urine
• Unusual tiredness or weakness

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to lansoprazole or similar drugs such as dexlansoprazole, omeprazole, or pantoprazole. Also, let them know if you have any other allergies, as the product may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Prevacid Solu Tab may interact with other medications. For example, coadministration with atazanavir or sofosbuvir/velpatasvir may affect their effectiveness. Discuss all the medications you are taking with your healthcare provider to avoid potential interactions.

Prevacid Solu Tab contains phenylalanine, which can be harmful to individuals with phenylketonuria (PKU). If you have PKU, consult your healthcare provider before taking Prevacid Solu Tab.

If you experience any new or worsening symptoms associated with cutaneous or systemic lupus erythematosus, or symptoms that may be associated with cyanocobalamin deficiency after taking Prevacid Solu Tab, contact your healthcare provider for further evaluation.
