K-Citra (Potassium Citrate)

Do’s

• The dosage of K-Citra is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your healthcare provider will determine the appropriate dosage for you. Follow their instructions carefully.
• K-Citra is taken by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider. It should be taken with meals or a bedtime snack.
• Swallow the tablets whole with a full glass of water or other liquid (8 ounces or 240 milliliters), unless your healthcare provider instructs otherwise.
• Your healthcare provider may direct you to eat a low-salt (low-sodium) diet and drink plenty of fluids. Follow their directions closely.
• Take K-Citra exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Use it regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same times each day.
• While taking K-Citra, your healthcare provider may ask you to test the pH (acidity) of your urine using special paper. This pH measurement will help determine the proper dose of K-Citra. Consult your healthcare provider for more information on how to perform this test.

Don’ts

• Do not adjust the prescribed dosage without your healthcare provider's approval.
• Do not crush or chew the tablets, as this can release all of the drug at once and increase the risk of side effects.
• Do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking K-Citra.
• Do not take K-Citra on an empty stomach.
• Do not use salt substitutes that contain potassium.
• Do not increase your dose or take this medication more often without your healthcare provider's approval.

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Stomach upset
• Diarrhea
• Abdominal pain
• Gas or bloating
