Colyte Lavage Prep, which contains polyethylene glycol and electrolytes, is used to clean out the intestines before certain bowel exam procedures like colonoscopy or barium enema X-rays.

It works as a laxative by drawing large amounts of water into the colon, resulting in watery bowel movements. The purpose of clearing stool from the intestines is to facilitate a better examination of the intestines during the procedure.

  • Follow your healthcare provider's instructions carefully. This includes any special diet instructions before your procedure.
