Osteoporosis causes bones to become thinner and more prone to breaking, and the medication works by slowing down bone loss, helping to maintain strong bones and reduce the risk of fractures

Risedronate belongs to a class of medications called bisphosphonates. It is available as a delayed-release tablet and may be used as part of a combination therapy, possibly requiring the intake of calcium or vitamin D supplements to strengthen bones and prevent fractures
