Do’s

• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions:
• This includes taking Aptiom with or without food, at the prescribed time and dosage.
• Your healthcare provider may start you on a low dose and gradually increase it to minimize side effects.
• Regular use is essential for managing seizures.
• Taking an Aptiom at the same time each day can help you remember.
• Tell them if your seizures improve or worsen.

Don'ts

• Don’t adjust your dosage. Only your healthcare provider can determine the appropriate amount for you.
• Don’t take it more often or longer. Don't exceed the prescribed dosage or duration.
• Don’t stop taking it abruptly. This can worsen your seizures. Talk to your healthcare provider about tapering the dose if needed.
• Don’t neglect to report worsening seizures. If your seizures become more frequent or severe, tell your healthcare provider right away.

Aptiom dosage may vary depending on your condition and weight (for children). Use Aptiom exactly as prescribed to manage your seizures effectively.

Common side effects of Aptiom may include:

• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Coordination problems
• Feeling shaky
• Double vision
• Feeling tired

Serious side effects of Aptiom are rare but may include:

• Severe dizziness or drowsiness
• Vision changes
• Thinking problems
• Trouble with walking or coordination
• Sudden weakness or ill feeling
• Fever, chills, sore throat, mouth sores
• Liver problems, such as nausea, loss of appetite, upper stomach pain, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes)

Tell your healthcare provider about any allergies to Eslicarbazepine, Oxcarbazepine, Carbamazepine, or any ingredients in Aptiom.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing conditions, especially:

• Kidney disease
• Liver disease
• Mineral imbalance (low sodium in the blood)

Aptiom may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or activities requiring alertness and clear vision until you know how it affects you. Limit alcohol and marijuana use, which can worsen these effects.

Before surgery, tell your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including Aptiom.

Aptiom may cause dizziness or loss of coordination, especially in older adults, increasing the risk of falls. Be cautious during activities requiring good balance.

Aptiom can harm an unborn baby. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider, especially if you are planning pregnancy, become pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Aptiom may interfere with hormonal birth control methods. Discuss reliable birth control options with your healthcare provider.

Aptiom passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding to discuss the risks and benefits for you and your baby.
