Timoptic Eyedrops, also known as timolol ophthalmic solution, is indicated for the treatment of elevated intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Do’s

  • Before you start using Timoptic Eyedrops or each time you get a refill, read the patient information leaflet provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions or concerns, ask your healthcare provider for clarification.
  • Typically, Timoptic Eyedrops are used once in the morning or twice daily, as directed by your healthcare provider. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the frequency of use.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before handling the eye drops to maintain cleanliness.
  • If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eyedrops. You can replace your contact lenses after waiting at least 15 minutes.
  • To administer the eyedrops, tilt your head back and look upward. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pouch. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and place one drop into the pouch. Look downward, gently close your eyes, and place one finger at the corner of your eye (near the nose). Apply gentle pressure for 1 to 2 minutes before opening your eyes. This helps prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
  • If directed to use the medication in both eyes, repeat the steps for your other eye.
  • After each use, replace the dropper cap without rinsing the dropper. This helps maintain the sterility of the medication.
  • If you are using other eye medications, such as drops or ointments, wait at least 10 minutes before applying them. Use the eyedrops before eye ointments to allow the drops to enter the eye properly.
  • After using the eyedrops, wait several minutes for your vision to clear before driving or operating machinery.
  • Use Timoptic Eyedrops regularly to get the most benefit from the medication. To help you remember, try using them at the same time(s) each day.
  • Continue using the medication even if you feel well, as many people with glaucoma or high eye pressure do not experience noticeable symptoms.

Don’ts

  • Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination.
