Do’s

  • Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before you start using Lovenox and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.
  • Learn all the preparation and usage instructions from your healthcare provider and the product package if you are using this medication at home.
  • Lovenox is given by injection under the skin as directed by your healthcare provider. It is usually administered once or twice a day in the abdomen, at least 2 inches away from your belly button.
  • The dosage and length of treatment will depend on your medical condition and response to treatment. In some cases, the dosage may also be based on your age and weight.
  • Before using Lovenox, visually inspect the product for particles or discoloration.
  • Clean the injection site with rubbing alcohol before injecting each dose. Change the injection site each time to minimize injury under the skin.

Seek medical attention if you experience any severe or persistent side effects while taking Lovenox.

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects, and other side effects may occur. Consult with your healthcare provider for personalized information and guidance.

Lovenox multiple-dose vials contain benzyl alcohol as a preservative. Large amounts of benzyl alcohol have been associated with gasping syndrome in premature infants. The exposure to benzyl alcohol in patients receiving Lovenox is much lower, but caution should still be exercised.

Lovenox should be used with caution in geriatric patients, as they may show delayed elimination of enoxaparin. Monitoring of geriatric patients with low body weight and those predisposed to decreased renal function should be considered.

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to Lovenox, heparin, pork products, or any other medications. Lovenox may contain inactive ingredients that can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Report any unusual bleeding, bruising, or signs of thrombocytopenia (such as a rash of dark red spots under the skin) to your healthcare provider while using Lovenox.

Store Lovenox vials at room temperature away from light. Discard multiple-dose vials 28 days after the first use. Keep all medications out of the reach of children and pets.

These are general warnings and precautions. Consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and information.
