Prolopa Dispersible (Levodopa/Benserazide)

Do’s

• The dosage of Prolopa Dispersible may vary depending on individual needs and the patient's current treatment regimen. Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
• Prolopa Dispersible tablets should be dissolved in a quarter glass of water or orange squash (not fresh orange juice). Stir well and drink the solution within half an hour. 
• Take the tablets 30 minutes before or one hour after meals.
•  If you forget to take a dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose when it is due.

Don’ts

• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

• Gastrointestinal effects such as diarrhea or constipation
• Dizziness and drowsiness
• Harmless staining of clothes

Some individuals taking levodopa-benserazide medications, including Prolopa Dispersible, have reported episodes of suddenly falling asleep without warning while engaged in normal daily activities. This can occur at any time during treatment. Exercise caution and avoid activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery if you experience increased sleepiness or fall asleep during the day.

Regular assessments of cardiovascular, hepatic, hematopoietic, and renal function should be performed in all patients during extended therapy with Prolopa Dispersible.

If concomitant administration of psychoactive drugs is necessary, it should be done with caution. Patients should be carefully observed for any unusual or untoward drug effects.

If general anesthesia is required, Prolopa Dispersible can be discontinued the night before surgery. Therapy can be recommenced as soon as the patient is able to receive oral medication.
