Methazolamide is used to address high pressure inside the eye associated with certain types of glaucoma. Lowering high pressure within the eye is essential in preventing blindness, vision loss, and nerve damage.
Methazolamide belongs to the class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. It operates by decreasing the production of fluid inside the eye, thereby reducing intraocular pressure.
Do’s
- Take Methazolamide exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, usually 2 or 3 times a day.
- Take Methazolamide with food if it upsets your stomach.
- Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day to reduce your risk of kidney stones, unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise.
- Take Methazolamide consistently at the same times each day for maximum benefit.
- Continue taking Methazolamide even if you feel well. Glaucoma or high eye pressure often doesn't cause noticeable symptoms.
