Do’s

• Before starting or using Marvelon 21 Day, read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist. This leaflet contains crucial information about when to take the pills and what to do if you miss a dose. If you have any questions or concerns, consult your healthcare provider.
• Take Marvelon 21 Day by mouth, as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily. Choose a time of day that is easy for you to remember, and take your pill at the same time each day.
• Start by taking a pill marked with the correct day of the week. Follow the direction of the arrows on the strip until you have finished all 21 pills.
• Continue taking Marvelon 21 Day exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. Missing pills, starting a new pack late, or taking the pill at a different time of day than usual can increase the likelihood of pregnancy.
• If you experience vomiting or diarrhea, it may affect the effectiveness of Marvelon 21 Day. In such cases, you may need to use a backup birth control method, such as condoms or spermicide. Follow the directions in the Patient Information Leaflet and consult your healthcare provider for more details.
• Taking Marvelon 21 Day after your evening meal or at bedtime may help if you experience stomach upset or nausea. However, you can choose another time of day that is more convenient for you, as long as you take the medication at the same time each day.
• Your pill pack contains 21 pills with active medication. After you have taken the last active tablet, do not take any tablets for 7 days unless otherwise directed by your doctor. You should have your period during the fourth week of the cycle
• After the 7-day tablet-free period, start a new pack the next day, regardless of whether you have your period or not. If you do not get your period, consult your healthcare provider.
• If this is the first time you are using Marvelon 21 Day and you are not switching from another form of hormonal birth control, take the first tablet in the pack on the first Sunday following the beginning of your menstrual period or on the first day of your period. If your period starts on a Sunday, begin taking the medication on that day.
• For the first cycle of use only, use a backup form of non-hormonal birth control (such as condoms or spermicide) for the first 7 days to prevent pregnancy until the medication has enough time to work. If you start on the first day of your period, you do not need to use backup birth control during the first week.
• If you need to switch from other forms of hormonal birth control to Marvelon 21 Day, consult your healthcare provider for guidance on the transition process. If any information is unclear, refer to the Patient Information Leaflet or consult your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Do not skip any doses.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea
• Breast tenderness
• Headache
• Weight changes
• Mood changes, such as mood swings or depression
• Breakthrough bleeding or spotting
• Decreased libido
• Vaginal discharge

These side effects are generally mild and tend to improve over time. However, if any side effects persist or become severe, consult your healthcare provider.

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe symptoms while taking Marvelon 21 Day, seek medical attention.

The use of oral contraceptive pills, including Marvelon 21 Day, is associated with an increased risk of several serious conditions, such as myocardial infarction (heart attack), thromboembolism (blood clot that breaks loose and travels to another part of the body), stroke, liver cancer, and gallbladder disease. The risk of serious morbidity and mortality is small in healthy women without underlying risk factors.

Marvelon 21 Day may interact with other medications. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medicines you are taking, as certain interactions may require a change in dose or other precautions.

Marvelon 28 is generally not recommended for use during breastfeeding. If considering the use of the pill while breastfeeding, seek the advice of a healthcare provider. Several situations are described where it may be necessary to stop taking the pill or where the reliability of the pill may be decreased. In such situations, use extra non-hormonal contraceptive precautions, such as condoms or another barrier method.

Be aware that the emergency contraceptive ulipristal (Ellaone) has the potential to make Marvelon 21 Day less effective. If this emergency contraception is taken while using Marvelon, an additional method of contraception, such as condoms, should be used for 14 days after taking it. Additionally, the antifungal drug griseofulvin can also make the pill less effective, requiring the use of an additional method of contraception during treatment with griseofulvin and for one month after stopping it.

Marvelon 21 Day will not protect against sexually transmitted infections, such as Chlamydia or HIV. Only condoms can provide this protection.
