Locacorten Vioform Cream (Clioquinol/Flumethasone)

Do’s

• The recommended dosage for Locacorten Vioform Cream is one thin application 2 or 3 times daily. If your healthcare provider has recommended a different dose, consult with them before making any changes to your medication regimen.
• Apply the cream thinly to the affected area of the skin.
• Use the medication for the prescribed amount of time, even if the problem seems to have cleared. This will help prevent the infection from recurring. 
• If there is no improvement in the skin condition after a week or if the condition worsens, stop using the medication and contact your healthcare provider.
• If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as possible and continue with your regular dosing schedule. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. If you are unsure about what to do after missing a dose, consult your healthcare provider for advice.
• Store the medication at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Don’ts

• Do not apply the medication near the eyes. If the medication accidentally comes into contact with your eyes, flush them immediately with plenty of water.
• Do not use the cream under dressings that do not allow the skin to breathe, unless specifically instructed to do so by your healthcare provider.
• Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed one. 

• Skin irritation or a burning sensation at the application site
• Excessive hair growth in the area where it is applied
• Skin thinning/discoloration
• Acne
• Stretch marks
• Folliculitis
• Allergic reaction: While rare, a serious allergic reaction to Locacorten Vioform Cream can occur. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, and trouble breathing 

If you experience any of these side effects or any other unusual symptoms while using Locacorten Vioform Cream, seek medical attention. Your healthcare provider will be able to provide guidance and determine the best course of action.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, inform your healthcare provider. They can discuss the potential risks and benefits of using Locacorten Vioform Cream in these situations.

If you experience blurred vision or other visual disturbances while using Locacorten Vioform Cream, inform your healthcare provider.

Topical use of clioquinol-containing preparations, such as Locacorten Vioform Cream, may lead to a marked increase in protein-bound iodine (PBI). If your healthcare provider wants to perform laboratory tests, they may need to take special precautions in that case.

While Locacorten Vioform Cream helps most people with ear infections, it may have unwanted side effects in a few individuals. All medicines can have side effects, and sometimes they can be serious. If you do not feel well while using Locacorten Vioform Cream, inform your healthcare provider as soon as possible.
