Flexi T Plus 380 (Intrauterine Device)

Do's

• Familiarize yourself with the specific instructions provided by your healthcare provider for the insertion and maintenance of the Flexi-T+ 380.
• Before insertion, consult with your healthcare provider to ensure that the Flexi-T+ 380 is suitable for your individual needs and medical history.
• Understand that the Flexi-T+ 380 contains 380 mm of copper, which contributes to its contraceptive effectiveness.
• Recognize that the Flexi-T+ 380 is ideal for women in their most fertile period (20-35 years old) who have given birth to one or more children, as the uterus may be somewhat larger after pregnancy.
• If you experience any unusual symptoms or side effects after insertion, seek medical attention promptly.
• Attend follow-up appointments as recommended by your healthcare provider to ensure the device is functioning effectively and to address any concerns.

Don'ts

• Do not attempt to insert the Flexi-T+ 380 on your own. It should be inserted by a qualified healthcare provider.
• Do Not Delay Seeking Help. If you experience persistent discomfort, unusual bleeding, or any concerning symptoms after insertion, do not delay seeking medical assistance.

Common Side Effects:

• Fast, irregular, or pounding heartbeat.
• Sweating.
• Nausea or vomiting.
• Breathing problems.
• Paleness.
• Dizziness.
• Weakness.
• Shakiness.
• Headache.
• Feelings of overexcitement, nervousness, or anxiety.

Serious Side Effects:

• Swelling, tenderness, or if the area feels warm to the touch at the insertion site.
• Cuts on the skin, bent needles, and needles that remain in the skin after the insertion can happen

Disclose any allergies to copper, silicone, or other ingredients in Flexi-T Plus 380.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing health problems, especially:

• Unexplained vaginal bleeding
• Pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)
• Current or past uterine or cervical cancer
• Abnormal Pap smear
• Uterine fibroids or polyps (may require a different IUD)
• Severe liver disease
• Pregnancy (Flexi-T Plus 380 is not for use if you are already pregnant)

Flexi-T Plus 380 can be used while breastfeeding.

There is a small risk of the IUD being expelled from the uterus, especially during menstruation. It's important to check the strings regularly to ensure proper placement.

You may experience heavier or more prolonged menstrual bleeding and cramping, especially during the first few months of use. This usually improves over time.

There is a small risk of pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in the first few weeks after insertion.

In rare cases, the IUD may perforate (puncture) the uterus. This is more likely during insertion, especially in women who have never been pregnant.

Flexi-T Plus 380 does not completely eliminate the risk of ectopic pregnancy (implantation outside the uterus).

Some women may experience pain during sex with the IUD.

Consult your healthcare provider if you experience any of the following:

• Severe or prolonged abdominal or pelvic pain
• Unusual vaginal discharge or bleeding
• Fever
• Difficulty or pain when urinating
• Suspect you may be pregnant
• Feel the strings of the IUD or cannot feel them at all
