Banzel (Rufinamide) is used with other medications to prevent or control seizures (epilepsy) associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS). It is an anticonvulsant medication that has been approved for almost 10 years as an add-on treatment to significantly reduce the severity and frequency of a broad range of seizures associated with LGS in adults and children.

Rufinamide is thought to work by acting on the sodium channels in the brain that carry excessive electrical charges that may cause seizures. It is believed to exert its effect by regulating the activity of sodium channels in the brain, which carry excessive electrical charges that may cause seizures.
