Amoxil Chewables (Amoxicillin)

Do’s

• Chew the Amoxil tablets thoroughly before swallowing them. Follow this with a full glass of water (8 ounces or 240 milliliters).
• Take with or without food. You can take Amoxil with or without food, depending on your healthcare provider's instructions and if you experience stomach upset.
• Take Amoxil exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically every 8 or 12 hours. Maintaining consistent dosing intervals is important for effective treatment.
• Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day while taking Amoxil, unless your healthcare provider advises otherwise.
• Take the full prescribed amount of Amoxil, even if you start feeling better after a few days. Stopping early can allow the infection to return.
• Tell your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve or worsens after taking Amoxil.

Don'ts

• Don't skip doses. Try not to miss doses, but if you do, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it's close to your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Don't double your dose.
• Don't take Amoxil past its expiration date.
• Don't take Amoxil for any condition other than what your healthcare provider prescribed it for. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic and won't work for viral infections like the common cold.

Common side effects:

• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Changes in taste
• Headache
• Skin rash

Serious side effects (rare, but may require medical attention):

• Allergic reactions (rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, throat, tongue, lips, and eyes)
• Skin blisters or peeling
• Difficulty swallowing or breathing
• Severe diarrhea (watery or bloody stools) that may occur with or without fever and stomach cramps
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes (signs of liver problems)
• Unusual tiredness or weakness

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillin, cephalosporin antibiotics, or any ingredients in Amoxil Chewables Tablets.

Disclose any pre-existing medical conditions to your healthcare provider before using Amoxil Chewables Tablets, especially:

• Kidney disease

If you have PKU, consult your healthcare provider as Amoxicillin Chewables Tablets may contain aspartame.

Amoxicillin may interfere with the effectiveness of live bacterial vaccines. Inform your healthcare provider about using Amoxicillin before receiving any vaccinations.

Tell your healthcare provider or dentist about all medications you take, including Amoxil Chewables Tablets, before having surgery.

Amoxicillin should only be used during pregnancy when clearly necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

Amoxicillin passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
