If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. Make sure Synthroid (Levothyroxine)is taken with a full glass of water because Synthroid (Levothyroxine)can dissolve very quickly and if it is caught in the throat, it will swell and cause choking or gagging. Take the medication on an empty stomach 30 minutes before your meal. Synthroid (Levothyroxine)may take several weeks before the body responds to the medication. Do not suddenly stop taking Synthroid, even if you feel better. Regular blood tests will be made to ensure the medication is helping the condition. It is important to attend all schedule doctor appointments.Do not use Synthroid (Levothyroxine)if you have had a heart attack, have thyrotoxicosis, or an adrenal gland problem that is not controlled by treatment.
