Razadyne ER (Galantamine HBr ER)

Do’s

• Take Razadyne ER by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily in the morning with breakfast.
• This medication may be taken on an empty stomach if necessary. Swallow the capsules whole. 
• To lower your risk of side effects, your dosage will be gradually increased to your target dose. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
• If you stop taking Razadyne ER for several days, consult your healthcare provider before restarting it. Your dosage should be reduced to lower the risk of side effects, and then it should be increased gradually. Follow all your healthcare provider's dosing instructions exactly.
• Use Razadyne ER regularly in order to get the most benefit from it.
• It may take at least 4 weeks of continued use before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. Continue taking this medication as prescribed.
• If your condition worsens, be sure to inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Do not crush or chew the capsules, as doing so can destroy the long action of the drug and may increase side effects.
• Do not stop taking this medication or increase the dosage unless your healthcare provider instructs you to do so.

Common Side Effects:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Loss of appetite
• Weight loss
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Insomnia
• Fatigue
• Muscle cramps
• Urinary incontinence

Not everyone will experience these side effects, and some individuals may experience different or additional side effects. If you are concerned about any side effects you are experiencing while taking Razadyne ER, consult with your healthcare provider for further guidance.

If you are allergic to galantamine or any other ingredients in Razadyne ER, you should not take this medication. Allergic reactions can include rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.

Inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of liver or kidney problems. Razadyne ER dosage may need to be adjusted or the medication may not be recommended in severe cases of liver or kidney impairment.

Razadyne ER can cause or worsen stomach or intestinal ulcers or bleeding. Inform your healthcare provider if you have a history of these conditions.

If you have certain heart conditions such as sick sinus syndrome, bradycardia (slow heart rate), AV block, arrhythmias, or other heart problems, Razadyne ER should be used with caution. It may cause a further decrease in heart rate or worsen heart rhythm problems.

Razadyne ER may worsen breathing problems in individuals with severe asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Inform your healthcare provider if you have these conditions.

If you have a history of seizures, Razadyne ER should be used with caution as it may lower the seizure threshold.

Razadyne ER may worsen urinary problems in individuals with an enlarged prostate. Inform your healthcare provider if you have difficulty urinating.

Serious skin reactions, such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome and acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, have been reported in some patients taking Razadyne ER. If you develop a skin rash while taking Razadyne ER, discontinue the medication and seek medical attention.
