Albenza (albendazole) is indicated for the treatment of various parasitic infections. It is primarily used to treat neurocysticercosis, a condition caused by active lesions of the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium.
Albendazole is also indicated for the treatment of cystic hydatid disease caused by the larval form of the dog tapeworm, Echinococcus granulosus.
The active ingredient in Albenza is albendazole, which works by causing the degeneration of cytoplasmic microtubules in the intestinal and tegmental cells of the parasites.
