Sandimmune (Cyclosporine) is utilized to prevent organ rejection in individuals who have undergone liver, kidney, or heart transplants. When taken in combination with other medications, it facilitates the normal functioning of the newly transplanted organ.

Cyclosporine belongs to the class of drugs known as immunosuppressants, which are designed to suppress the body's immune response.

The primary mechanism of action of Cyclosporine involves weakening the immune system, thereby aiding the body in accepting the new organ by reducing the risk of rejection. This allows the transplanted organ to be recognized as if it were part of the individual's own body.

Do's

  • Take it exactly as directed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily.
  • Take it with or without food, but choose one way and stick to it for every dose.
