What is YAZ Birth Control 28 day /Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol used for?

Yaz is a combination birth control pill that is 99% effective when used correctly.Like all birth control pills, Yaz contains the hormones estrogen and progestin that work together to inhibit the maturation of egg cells in the uterus, thus preventing fertilization. Not only does Yaz prevent pregnancy, but it is also the ONLY pill that is capable of treating premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) – a more severe and inhibiting form of PMS. In addition, Yaz is successful at preventing breakouts and treating acne in its users.

How should YAZ Birth Control 28 day /Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol be stored?

How should I take YAZ Birth Control 28 day/Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol ?

Take a pill every day. If an active pill a missed, the risk of pregnancy is the highest, take it as soon as you remember or you may take two pills at the next scheduled dose. Backup birth control is not needed. When two active pills are missed in a row during the first or second week, take two dosages for the next two scheduled dose. Use back up birth control for the week following the missed pills. When the first pack is finished, you may not have your period that month, this is expected. If two months in a row is missed, contact your doctor because you might be pregnant.

When should YAZ Birth Control 28 day /Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol not be taken?

Do not take Yaz Birth Control if you are pregnant, have a history of stroke or blood clot, circulation problems (especially if caused by diabetes), a heart valve disorder, breast or uterine cancer, abnormal vaginal bleeding, kidney or liver disease, an adrenal gland disorder, severe high blood pressure, migraine headaches, or a history of jaundice caused by birth control pills. In addition, do not take Yaz if you are allergic to drospirenone or ethyinal estradoil.

What precautions should I follow when taking YAZ Birth Control 28 day /Drospirenone/Ethinyl Estradiol ?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you have high blood pressure or heart disease; if you have high cholesterol or if you are overweight; if you have liver cancer, gallbladder disease, diabetes, seizures or epilepsy; or a history of depression, irregular menstrual cycles, or a history of breast or uterine cancer.

See your doctor on a regular basis, do not miss any appointments. Do self examinations on your breasts monthly to check for lumps. Missing a pill will increase the risk of becoming pregnant, so it is very important to take your pill every day.
