When should Unisom /Diphenhydramine - non Rx not be taken?

If you have any allergies to the ingredients listed on the bottle, or similar medications do not take Unisom. If you are taking oxybase, or have taken monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (eg, phenelzine) in the past 14 days.

What precautions should I follow when taking Unisom /Diphenhydramine - non Rx ?

You should inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, breastfeeding, taking any other medications with Unisom, have any allergies, are asthmatic, have chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung disease, shortness of breath, or sleep apnea. There are a few medications which may interfere with Unisom so also please inform your doctor of other medications you are taking no matter how trivial they may seem.

Severe: Severe allergic reactions; convulsions; lack of alertness; easily excited; quickened heartbeat; hallucinations; tension or thumping in the chest; tremor; breathless.

Common: Dizziness; sleepiness; dry mouth, throat, and nose; thickening of mucus in nose or throat.
