What is Ridaura /Auranofin used for?

This medicine is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Ridaura (Auranofin) is primarily composed of a form of gold, which, in some cases will reduce the inflammation caused by rheumatoid arthritis.

How should Ridaura /Auranofin be stored?

This medicine should be stored at a temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F. Keep this medicine in a tight, light resistant container, and out of the reach of children and pets.

How should I take Ridaura/Auranofin ?

This medicine should be taken in accordance to your prescription. While taking this medication, follow the directions on your prescription label. Taking dosages above those recommended in your prescription may increase the incidence of diarrhea. Do not stop taking this medication without checking with your doctor. Riduara is generally taken orally with a glass of water.

When should Ridaura /Auranofin not be taken?

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine. If you have a history of blood and bone marrow disorder; you are experiencing skin inflammation and peeling; you have scar tissue on the lungs; you have serious bowel inflammation; or you are pregnant or breastfeeding, do not take this medicine.

What precautions should I follow when taking Ridaura /Auranofin ?

Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider if any of the following apply to you: you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding; you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine; you have any other medical conditions including gastrointestinal disorders, impairment of kidney or liver functions, eye disease, mouth ulcers or skin conditions.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Ridaura /Auranofin ?

This medicine contains gold, which can build up in the blood and become toxic. Discuss symptoms of this buildup with your doctor so you can report them if they occur. This medication can also lower the number of blood cells in your body that fight infections, which may cause you to become more prone to bleeding and contracting illnesses.

When should Ridaura /Auranofin not be taken?

The most severe side effects associated with this medication include: bleeding disorder; peeling skin, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia and proteinuria.

The most common side effects associated with this medication include: diarrhea; loose stools; inflammation of the skin; itching; inflammation of the mouth; abdominal pain; nausea; vomiting; constipation; inflammation of the eye; itching.

Other side effects associated with this medication include: weight loss, elevated liver enzymes
