How should I take Propylthyracil/Propylthiouracil ?

Propylthyracil is a prescription medication that should be taken exactly as your doctor has prescribed. When taking Propylthyracil, follow the directions on your prescription. If your prescription is unclear, contact your healthcare provider for more information. Dosing of this medication may range from 50 mg to 100 mg for every eight hours, and a maximum of 500mg per twenty four hours. Your doctor will advise how much and when to take your medication in your prescription.

Do not take Propylthyracil if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medication. If you are nursing a child, taking Propylthyracil is not recommended.

Severe Side Effects: throat infection; pain, swelling, or redness in joints; mouth sores; hoarseness; general feeling of discomfort, illness or weakness; fever or chills; skin rash or itching; jaundice; or cough.

Common Side Effects: vomiting; stomach pain; nausea; or dizziness.
