How should I take Nimotop/Nimodipine ?

Nimotop should be taken exactly as your doctor has shown you. Take Nimotop on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after eating. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice while taking Nimotop.

When should Nimotop /Nimodipine not be taken?

Avoid the use of Nimotop if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Nimotop.

What precautions should I follow when taking Nimotop /Nimodipine ?

Tell your doctor if: you are or may become pregnant; you are breast-feeding; you are taking any prescription or non-prescription (including herbal preparation, or dietary supplement) medication; you have any allergies; you have liver problems, heart problems, shock due to serious problems, low blood pressure, fluid in your lungs, or if you have a history of heart attack.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Nimotop /Nimodipine ?

Nimotop may cause dizziness or lightheadedness; do not drive or operate any machinery, or participate in any other activity that may become dangerous while on Nimotop. Use extreme caution when giving Nimotop to the elderly as they may be more sensitive to the effects of the medication and children as the safety and effectiveness of this medication is not confirmed for this age group. Tell your doctor if you are or are planning on becoming pregnant or if you are breast-feeding. You should not take Nimotop if you are breast-feeding.

Serious side effects may include: allergic reaction; black or bloody stools; depression; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; severe dizziness; shortness of breath; severe or persistent constipation; swelling of the feet or hands; unusual bruising or bleed

Less serious side effects can include: diarrhea; flushing; headache; nausea.
