How should I take Navane/Thiothixene ?

Always follow the directions given to you by your doctor. Navane should be taken by mouth, with a full glass of water. You may choose to take Navane with or without food. Never take more than one dose at a time.

When should Navane /Thiothixene not be taken?

Avoid the use of Navane if: you have a psychotic condition related to dementia; you are allergic to Thiothixene; you have a blood cell disorder, low white blood cell count, or low platelets; or you suffer from drowsiness, slow breathing, weak pulse, or decreased alertness cause by taking certain medication or drinking alcohol.

What precautions should I follow when taking Navane /Thiothixene ?

Navane is not intended for use in people suffering from psychotic conditions related to dementia. Navane may cause heart failure, sudden death, or pneumonia in older adults with dementia-related conditions. Contact your doctor immediately if you have restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck. Navane may cause you thinking or reactions to become impaired; always exercise caution when participating in potentially dangerous activities. Avoid getting up too fast when you are sitting or lying down.

What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Navane /Thiothixene ?

Avoid the consumption of alcohol, as Navane should not be taken if you are under the effects of alcohol. Do not become overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather, as Navane may decrease perspiration and you may be more at risk of experiencing a stroke. Avoid exposure to sunlight as much as you can.

When should Navane /Thiothixene not be taken?

Serious side effects may include: allergic reaction; very stiff muscles, high fever, sweating, confusion, fast or uneven heartbeats, feeling like you might pass out; restless muscle movements in your eyes, tongue, jaw, or neck; tremor; trouble swallowing;

Less severe side effects may include: dizziness or drowsiness; feeling restless or agitated; sleep problems; breast swelling or discharge; changes in your menstrual periods; nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation; changes in weight or appetite; dry mout
